09 August 2020 – Kingmere & Glenlee

Report by Julian Avis

A slow start to the day as we went out on the in-coming high tide at 11:15,  that is the two Steves, Paul and myself.

The plan was a short drift dive out at the Kingmere Rocks, then dive the Glen Lee wreck after one thirty.

Steve S and I went in first and we ended up on the wrong side of the rock so it was a bit of a struggle to stay in the rocks with the tide trying to push us off.  But the vis was about three metres and the water not too cold as we were all in wet suits.

Steve B and Paul decided to just go to the Glen Lee so after the drift dive that’s what we did.  Paul and Steve went first and after 40 minutes came up saying they saw cuttle fish and big cod.

Steve S and I went next and on the bottom we had about three metres vis.  After a short swim to the right of the shot we found the boilers with some big congers inside.  We saw a lot of crabs and lobsters but no cuttle fish or cod.  After a good look around we surfaced with a dive time of 40 mins.

We made our we back to the harbour and after fuelling up we had a bit of a problem starting one of the engines but managed to get the boat back on the trailer ok.

Another enjoyable day out on the club boat.
