22-23 February 2019 – Portland

Report by Mark Swan, Photos by Jenny JC

Jenny JC, Steve B,Paul and I went to Portland for a couple of days.

Divebeyond do a winter deal of 2 days diving (two local dives each day) and a night at their Portland Bunkhouse, for £82.

The sea was too rough to get out from the harbour, but this turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Fri 22nd Feb

Dive 1 – Cragside, Max depth 16m, Time 45 mins, Vis 4m, Water temp 8’C

Dive 2 – Bombardon Unit and Landing Craft, Max depth 17m, Time 46 mins, Vis 4m, Water temp 8’C

A dolphin came to ‘say hello’ as we travelled back.

Night out at The Cove Inn then back to our cells.

Sat 23rd Feb

Dive 1 – Countess Of Erne, Max depth 16m, Time 48 mins, Vis 4-5m, Water temp 8’C

Dive 2 – Bombardon Unit and Landing Craft, , Max depth 17m, Time 50 mins, Vis 4m, Water temp 8’C

A harbour seal came to watch at the end the dive. I think he was laughing at us clambering back on the rib!
