20 & 21 July 2013 – Swanage

From Friday 19th July to Sunday 21st July BUDC descended on Swanage and more specifically Divers Down in Swanage for a weekends diving. It had been a last minute decision to organize and we were very lucky to get accommodation and diving secured at this time of year within a month of enquiring.

Our plan was for 7 of us to arrive Friday evening stay in The White Horse B&B dive on the Carantan Saturday morning, the Aeolian Sky and Black Hawk Drift Saturday afternoon.

Another 3 divers, 1 joining us in the White Horse and 2 staying in The Red Lion would then join us. We would all meet for dinner in Tawnys wine bar in the evening.

Sunday the plan was to dive the Kyarra in the morning and then 6 to do the Old Harry Drift at 12.00 and 4 to do the Betsy Anna at 15.00.

We took all our own kit and gas fills were available between dives.

Unfortunately things didn’t go entirely to plan as sometimes happens and some of us didn’t get to do all the dives we wanted due to ill health and kit damage but these things happen and overall we had a great weekend. One that we will be repeating next year, without the kit damage and ill health if at all possible!

Divers Down did a great job of looking after us and both the B&Bs were clean and comfortable if a little noisy due to being in the high street. (JM)
