L'Estartit on the Costa Brava, Spain,
was our base to dive the Medas Islands, a seven island archipelago just
a mile off the coast. A new dive location for BUDC, we flew to
Barcelona (Girona is nearer but we couldn't get flights there from
Gatwick), had a couple of hours in MPVs to arrive at our destination, the
self-catering Miami apartments, a short walk from the main town,
with a supermarket on the corner for the essentials (beer/wine/crisps
etc!).
Diving was
arranged with La Sirena dive centre (2 dives a day)
and although the sun didn't shine continuously, it was warm enough
and the viz a lot better than we had in the channel the week
before! The water temperature was around 15 degrees so
some wished they had taken a drysuit instead of
semi-dry. Some underwater photos
taken by Tracey & Jenny.
Local
bars provided us with a variety of food/drink to give us the energy
needed for the diving. Full English breakfasts were available at
the apartment bar between dives and most took advantage of this.
The bar also provided complimentary Sangria the night we arrived, and
plenty of refreshment during the weekend. The table footie, and
pool also created some fierce competition on our last night. See
some photos of us relaxing!
