Well, it was a real unknown as to whether we would get out diving - it
all depended on the skipper and the weather. Gerry said he would
do his best (and he did). Friday saw us all up loading our kit
onto the boat. Everyone had managed to come down on the Thursday
except Allan, who was coming with his family on Friday, and Dean who was
unwell, so not quite a full boat. We were optimistic as we headed
out of the sound but unfortunately the sea was not good once we got out
into open water. Gerry said he could drop us in at the wrecks but
that recovery would be difficult so it was agreed to dive a couple of
more sheltered sites. After the dives, back to the pontoon
and then across to the Barbican for a meal. Stuart just would not
believe us when we described the ribs at the Blues Bar to him and had to
attempt them!!
Saturday
dawned brighter so we were able to get a couple of good dives in before
the rain started again. Quick wash, then on the ferry again for a
Mexican meal - still raining. (Thanks to Jo for booking
this) Bit rough on the way back - the ferry skipper did warn us
but some insisted on getting wet!
The
wind had changed direction on Sunday so the seas were flatter and we
managed to be the first divers on the Scylla. Our second dive was
stopped by the navy - can't think why nuclear submarines are more
important than us - so we had to find the boilers of the Glen Strath
Allen (well some of us did!). All in all, another good weekend and
thanks to Tracey for arranging it again. See below for links to
reports of the dives.
