Topside
we had wondered why the skipper had spent so long trying to locate the
boiler of this very broken up wreck.
On descending into thick kelp and a labyrinth of rock gullies it
became obvious – but not a boiler in sight!
Having battled our way through the kelp to find a more open area,
the sunlight dancing through the water gave a beautiful light and
spacious feeling to the dive.
Coming
to a wider gully we met Bryan and Paul but they hadn’t found the
boiler either – was it all a cruel myth?
However, a plethora of cuttlefish kept us entertained with their
magical, luminescent display followed by a graceful ballet from a large Thorn
Backed Ray.
At
that point George and Sue appeared and pointed us in the direction of
the elusive boiler. Apparently
it had a very large resident conger who had taken exception to his
peaceful day's sleep being disturbed by clumsy, bubble blowing aliens
and had swum off in a huff before we got there but a great, easy dive
nevertheless.
