Dive 6 - Glen Strath Allen

Topside we had wondered why the skipper had spent so long trying to locate the boiler of this very broken up wreck.  On descending into thick kelp and a labyrinth of rock gullies it became obvious – but not a boiler in sight!   Having battled our way through the kelp to find a more open area, the sunlight dancing through the water gave a beautiful light and spacious feeling to the dive.

Coming to a wider gully we met Bryan and Paul but they hadn’t found the boiler either – was it all a cruel myth?  However, a plethora of cuttlefish kept us entertained with their magical, luminescent display followed by a graceful ballet from a large Thorn Backed Ray.

At that point George and Sue appeared and pointed us in the direction of the elusive boiler.  Apparently it had a very large resident conger who had taken exception to his peaceful day's sleep being disturbed by clumsy, bubble blowing aliens and had swum off in a huff before we got there but a great, easy dive nevertheless.
