A
great
long weekend (Thursday evening to Monday evening) organised by Jacqui &
Steve with Punta Dive at their Cala Martina centre just outside Santa
Eulalia, Ibiza. We did 3 dives a day, 2 in the morning and one in
the afternoon from a 12m Valliant RIB. All the dive guides were
great, putting up with the foibles of a British club, and we tried to
remember all our training, including putting on fins,
and turning our air on before jumping in. The centre provided communal hot showers
(greatly enjoyed by some club members), overnight equipment storage for
our kit as well as safety deposit boxes. There was a dive
shop and equipment servicing area if we needed it and plenty
of space to relax under the palm trees on the lawn area in front of the
centre. Unfortunately they were unable to provide Nitrox whilst we
were there, although apparently it is usually available free of charge.
Bed and
breakfast accommodation
was at the Hotel Anfora, El Cana and we mixed in well with the Saga
holiday makers and young families. However, we didn't join in the
Karaoke, Bingo or other evening entertainments. We also missed the
parrot show!
In between
dives we adjourned to the nearby cafes for lunch, where we were usually
joined by some non-diving partners who had accompanied us for this
holiday. It was lovely to have them with us and we trust they
enjoyed their sight seeing and lazing around during the day.
Evening meals were taken at local restaurants and took most of the
evening!
