22 January 2017 – Vobster

Cold Water Diving – Vobster – Sunday 22nd January 2017

To get the season underway Mark and I braved the early morning cold and ventured West to Somerset for a splash in at Vobster. We were aware that the water temperature was 7 degrees surface with 6 degrees at depth so followed cold water diving protocols. Air temperature was 2 degrees.

Two dives completed

Dive 1 – 46 minutes – 25m max depth – viz 10m+ loads of ambient light at depth, surface visible from 20m

Dive 2  – 44 minutes – 24m max depth – viz 10m+ at depth, on the 12m shelf kicked up a bit (few trainees in the water) but still very good.

We felt it might be an idea to remind members of the precautions that should be taken when diving in these conditions.
